We are excited to take students involved with Cru at USF & UT to Guatemala during their spring break.

We are partnering with Filter of Hope to work with impoverished people who are suffering in ways we can’t even imagine. Where we are going, most people have no access to clean water to drink or cook with. They are collecting their water from rivers and streams that are full of bacteria, parasites and other contaminants. The water keeps them very sick and is causing the death of many of their children. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, one child dies every 20 seconds due to water related illnesses. Can you imagine having to drink water from a river contaminated with animal waste? These people have no choice because clean water simply is not available where they live. Even in areas where people have access to a well, often the water still is not clean.

We will be going house-to-house distributing water filters and providing basic hygiene training and soap for the family. Filter of Hope had developed a state of the art water filter that uses the same technology found in kidney dialysis machines. They will produce up to 150 gallons of clean water, every day, for at least 10 years

In order to go on the trip to Guatemala, each team member has a goal to raise the needed funds by February 1, 2018. The trip costs $1,550 per person. Would you consider sponsoring us to go on this trip? All donations are tax deductible and 100% of your donation goes directly to providing and distributing these filters. Donations can be made through the link above.
